Metropolitan Police detectives have formally charged Ben Laing, aged 23 and hailing from Feltham, and Duarra Abdi, aged 19 and residing in Acton, with the tragic murder of Tyreece Scott in Hounslow. The charges were officially filed on Sunday, January 21, and both individuals are scheduled to make their appearance in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates' Court on January 22.
The arrests unfolded at Stansted Airport on Friday, January 19, following a distressing incident where Tyreece was discovered with a stab wound on Grove Road during the early hours of January 16. Despite the prompt response of emergency services and their efforts to administer first aid, Tyreece, aged 24, succumbed to his injuries at the scene. A post-mortem examination conducted on January 18 conclusively determined that the cause of death was a stab wound to the chest.
In addition to the murder charges, Ben Laing faces additional charges related to his alleged involvement in the supply of drugs, while Duarra Abdi has been charged with possession of a bladed article.
Tyreece's grieving family has been informed of this latest development and is currently receiving the necessary support from family liaison officers during this difficult time.
Detectives are urging anyone with information that could aid the ongoing investigation to come forward by calling 101 and quoting CAD 274/16Jan. Alternatively, information can be shared anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers at 0800 555 111. The police are actively seeking any leads or details that might assist in bringing clarity to this tragic incident.
